A Heart of Gratitude

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” – Psalm 107:1

As we gather around our tables this Thanksgiving, we’re reminded that gratitude is not just a seasonal feeling; it’s a daily posture of the heart. While the holiday brings with it warm traditions, family, and food, our hearts can turn to a deeper source of gratitude—the steadfast love and goodness of God.

Thanksgiving in its purest form is an act of worship. It’s recognizing that every blessing we enjoy flows from God’s hand. The family we cherish, the provisions we enjoy, the peace in our hearts, and even the challenges that strengthen us are all invitations to give thanks to our Creator.

In Luke 17:11-19, Jesus heals ten lepers, but only one—a Samaritan—returns to express gratitude. Jesus asks, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?” This story reminds us how easy it is to enjoy blessings without pausing to thank the Giver. Gratitude is a choice, one that draws us closer to God and helps us see His hand in every detail of our lives.

To reflect

  • What blessings have you experienced this year that you may have overlooked?
  • How has God shown His goodness to you, even in difficult seasons?
  • In what ways can you practice gratitude daily, not just on Thanksgiving?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unchanging goodness and love. Today, we pause to recognize that every good and perfect gift comes from You. Help us cultivate hearts that overflow with gratitude, not just on special days but every day. May our thanksgiving turn into thanks-living, as we reflect Your goodness to the world around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Challenge:

This Thanksgiving, take a moment with your loved ones to share something you’re grateful for—both big and small. Let your words of gratitude point back to the One who gives us every good gift.

Happy Thanksgiving Wellspring Church! May your heart be full of peace, joy, and thankfulness this season.
