“When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, ‘It is finished,’ and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” — John 19:30
At the center of history stands a cross. On it hangs the Son of God, arms stretched wide, bearing the weight of our sin and shame. The sky grows dark. The earth trembles. The veil is torn. And with a final breath, Jesus says, “It is finished.”
This is not defeat. It is declaration. The debt is paid. The curse is broken. The way is open.
Good Friday teaches us that salvation is costly. It isn’t earned or deserved. It is given. And it was purchased not with silver or gold, but with blood. Today, sit quietly at the foot of the cross. Let the gravity of grace fall afresh on your soul.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank you for dying in my place. Thank you for loving me to the end. Help me never to take your sacrifice lightly. I worship you, crucified and risen King. Amen
