Wednesday's Word
Keeping Sabbath doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does take intentionality. It’s about setting apart one day each week to stop, rest, and remember that your life belongs to God. Here are a few simple ways to begin:
Stop working. Put away the laptop, close the planner, and resist the urge to catch up on chores. Trust that the world will keep spinning without you.
Rest your body and mind. Take a nap, go for a walk, sit quietly with Scripture, or enjoy creation. Let yourself breathe.
Worship. Gather with God’s people, sing, pray, and read his Word. Sabbath is not just about stopping—it’s about turning our attention back to the One who made us.
Delight. Enjoy the good gifts God has given—family, friends, food, laughter, beauty. The Sabbath is a weekly reminder that God’s creation is good.
Reflect. Remember that your worth doesn’t come from what you produce but from who you are in Christ.
Sabbath is a gift, not a burden. When we slow down, rest, and give God our time, we discover freedom from the tyranny of busyness and a renewed sense of joy.
Take one day this week and try it. Stop. Rest. Worship. Delight. You may just find that Sabbath makes you more alive than all your striving ever could.
