EQUIPPED TO DISCIPLE

A Leadership Formation Pathway

Format

The Equipped to Disciple Pathway is designed to be completed over seven months, with one two-hour session each month.

Meetings are 6–8PM on the First Monday of each month.

Overview

Spiritual formation is the lifelong process of being conformed to the image of Christ for the sake of others. At the heart of the Church’s mission is the call not merely to make converts, but to make disciples—people who follow Jesus in all of life and help others do the same. For this reason, the ministry of discipleship and spiritual formation is not peripheral to the life of the Church—it is central.

This curriculum has been designed to equip and empower those who serve as spiritual formation and discipleship leaders in the church. Whether you are a Sunday School teacher, a Bible study facilitator, or a small group leader, your role is vital in helping others grow into maturity in Christ. Effective leadership in this area requires more than just content knowledge—it demands spiritual depth, theological grounding, relational wisdom, and practical skills.

Equipped to Disciple is a 8-session pathway for developing these qualities in leaders. Each session builds on the last, moving from the inner life of the leader to the outward call of discipling others. You will be rooted in a biblical vision of discipleship, introduced to core Christian doctrines, and trained in key competencies such as facilitating group discussions, teaching Scripture, caring for group members, and cultivating future leaders. Along the way, you will also reflect on your own spiritual journey and be challenged to grow deeper in your walk with Christ.

This journey is not just about acquiring knowledge—it’s about becoming the kind of person through whom God can minister to others. Our prayer is that as you engage this training, you will be formed by the Spirit, strengthened in your calling, and sent out to serve with confidence, humility, and love.

This session grounds participants in a robust, biblical vision of discipleship as a lifelong journey of transformation, obedience, and mission.

  3. Identify the Characteristics of a Disciple. Learners will examine biblical traits of a disciple, such as obedience, transformation, fruit-bearing, and relational faithfulness.
  4. Recognize Jesus as the Model Disciple-Maker. Participants will explore how Jesus discipled others and how His methods inform our approach to making disciples today.
