Pray Like This is a four-week teaching series inviting the church to rediscover prayer as life with the living God. More than a religious duty or spiritual technique, prayer is the way God forms His people through relationship, trust, and communion. In a world marked by noise, hurry, and uncertainty, this series calls us back to a deeper, more honest life with God.
Across four weeks, we will explore why we pray, how Jesus teaches us to pray, what to do when prayer feels difficult or unanswered, and how prayer shapes a people for God’s purposes in the world. Rooted in the teaching of Jesus, the Psalms, and the life of the early church, this series addresses both the beauty and the struggle of prayer, offering a realistic and hope-filled vision of life with God.
As we learn to pray with greater confidence, persistence, and trust, we will discover that prayer not only changes our circumstances—it changes us. Join us as we grow together in the language of the Kingdom and learn to live as a praying people, attentive to God’s presence and ready to participate in His work.
- Week 1 – Why We Pray (Feb 1).
Prayer is not a technique for getting things from God but a relationship grounded in who God is and who we are as his children. This opening sermon establishes prayer as communion rather than performance.
- Week 2 – How We Pray — Jesus Teaches Us (Feb 8).
Jesus does not only command prayer; he forms his disciples by teaching them how to pray. The Lord’s Prayer is presented as a framework for shaping desires, not merely words to repeat.
- Week 3 – When Prayer Is Hard — Waiting, Silence, and Lament (Feb 15).
This sermon addresses unanswered prayer, God’s silence, and perseverance. Scripture gives permission for lament and teaches that waiting is a vital dimension of faithful prayer.
- Week 4 – Prayer that Shapes a People — Intercession and Mission (Feb 22). Prayer is never merely private; it forms a people who participate in God’s work in the world. The early church’s prayers were corporate, bold, and missional.
