Acts 8: The Gospel Cannot Be Contained

In this week’s Wednesday night Bible study, we walk through Acts 8 and see the unstoppable power of the gospel. As persecution scatters the early church, what looks like defeat becomes the very means by which God advances his mission. From Samaria to the Ethiopian eunuch, Acts 8 shows that the good news of Jesus cannot be contained—by governments, geography, ethnic boundaries, or human resistance.

In this teaching, we explore how God uses suffering to spread his people, why the church is called not only to gather but also to scatter, and how the Holy Spirit empowers ordinary believers for mission. We also reflect on Simon the magician, the danger of trying to manipulate God, and the beautiful truth that in Christ no one is too far gone or too unclean to come home.

This is a message about surrender, the freedom and joy found on the other side of obedience, and the boundless reach of the gospel.

Acts 8 reminds us: Jesus will not be contained, and his invitation is still going out to the ends of the earth.
