OVERVIEW
The Promise of Advent is a four-week journey through the heart of the gospel, rooted in the traditional Advent themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. Beginning with the prophetic promise of Isaiah 9:2–7, we remember that even in the world’s deepest darkness, God speaks hope—promising a King who will bring light, justice, and unshakable assurance to His people. The story unfolds in the fields of Bethlehem as the angels proclaim peace on earth (Luke 2:8–14), announcing that Jesus has come to reconcile us to God and restore what sin has shattered.
The series then lifts our hearts with Mary’s song of joy (Luke 1:46–55), reminding us that salvation has come not to the powerful but to the humble who trust in God’s mercy. Finally, Advent culminates in the greatest act of love the world has ever known (John 3:16–17): the Father sending His Son not to condemn but to save. Through this season, we learn again that Advent is not simply a countdown to Christmas—it is a celebration of God’s faithful promise, fulfilled in Christ, who brings hope, peace, joy, and love to all who believe.
SERMONS
- Week 1 (Nov 30): The Hope of His Coming. Join us this Sunday for a message titled The Hope of His Coming, focusing on Isaiah 7:14 and the promise of Immanuel—“God with us.” We’ll explore how this ancient prophecy points to Christ, why His coming brings hope into every season of life, and how we can live with expectancy in a world longing for redemption. Come be encouraged and centered on the true hope of Advent. Watch Sermon.
- Week 2 (Dec 7): The Peace of His Presence
In Week 2 of our Advent series, we turn to the angelic announcement in Luke 2:8–14 and celebrate the gift of true peace that comes through Jesus Christ. The world is fractured by fear, conflict, and sin, but the birth of the Savior ushers in peace that begins with reconciliation to God. As the Prince of Peace, Jesus forgives and restores us, giving us hearts at rest in His presence. And He doesn’t stop there—He calls His people to join Him as peacemakers, bringing His healing love into a broken world. This Advent, we are invited to receive the peace Christ has come to give and faithfully extend that peace to others.
- Week 3 (Dec 14): The Joy of His Salvation
In Week 3 of The Promise of Advent, we listen to Mary’s song in Luke 1:46–55 and discover the unshakable joy that erupts when God’s salvation draws near. Mary rejoices not because her circumstances are easy—far from it—but because the Mighty One has acted to save His people and show mercy to the humble. Her joy is rooted in God’s faithfulness and overflows into bold worship and witness. This is the kind of joy Advent invites us into: a deep and lasting gladness that remains even in hardship, because in Jesus, salvation has come. Choose joy—Christ is here!
- Week 4 (Dec 21): The Love of His Kingdom
In the final week of our Advent series, we reflect on the most famous verse in Scripture—John 3:16–17—and the astonishing love it reveals. God’s answer to a broken and rebellious world is not condemnation but the sacrificial gift of His Son. The incarnation is love made flesh: Jesus entering our humanity to bring salvation and restore relationship with God. This love doesn’t stop with us—it transforms us to love others with the same self-giving heart. As we celebrate Christ’s coming, we are called to embody His kingdom love, sharing the good news and serving with compassion wherever He leads.
