Throughout Scripture, holiness describes what is set apart and distinctly different. God is not merely greater than creation—He is infinite, eternal, unchanging, and entirely independent of it. No image, object, person, or idea within the created world can fully represent or contain Him.
Idolatry not only misrepresents God; it also places our trust in finite things that cannot satisfy our deepest needs. Created things may offer temporary provision, security, love, or meaning, but they cannot sustain us eternally. Only the infinite God can meet the deepest needs of those He created.
Ultimately, this truth points us to Jesus Christ—the eternal Son of God, the Bread of Life, and the one who brings us into fellowship with the Father through the Holy Spirit. Everything else will eventually fail us, but Jesus alone has defeated death and offers the eternal life for which we were created.
